| Hiking 2010 - Hike Palmetto State Park |
|

This is the first in a series of 2010 Texas park hikes.
Palmetto State Park, named for the tropical Dwarf Palmetto plant found there, is located in Gonzales County. The San Marcos River runs through the park and creates the 4-acre Oxbow Lake. There are many bogs throughout the park that are surrounded by dense vegetation, giving the park a jungle-like atmosphere. There are several stone buildings in the park that were constructed by the Civilian Conservatin Corps (CCC) during the 1930s.
Great for getting in shape or just having fun. We will be hiking a number of different parks to get some hiking time in.......bring a picnic lunch and we will have a picnic after the Janury 10 Palmetto Park hike. The trails in the parks are easy to modeate with some modest elevations gains.
Get in the habit of looking forward on the calendar for upcoming hikes.....and we look forward to sharing some miles with you!
