Balmorhea is located in West Texas, 45 minute drive from Ft. Stockton. The water temp is 72 degrees year round, crystal clear with an abundance of aquatic life. Driving time is approx 4.5-5 hours.

Campsites & Other Facilities: Facilities include restrooms with showers; campsites with a shade shelter and water; campsites with a shade shelter, water, and electricity; pull-through campsites with water, electricity, and cable TV hookups; campsites without a shade shelter, with water and electricity. San Solomon Springs Courts has rooms with and without kitchens, a dining hall/meeting room. All of the rooms at San Solomon Courts are now designated as non smoking; chemically-free San Solomon Springs pool; a bathhouse; a playground; a concession building (open during the summer months); an outdoor sports area; and picnic sites. Visitors entering the park pay only the entrance fee; no separate pool fee. No lifeguards are on duty; swim at your own risk.

Area Attractions: Nearby points of interest are Davis Mountains State Park, Indian Lodge, Fort Davis National Historic Site, McDonald Observatory, Replica of Judge Roy Bean's West of the Pecos Museum, Chihuahuan Desert Research Institute, Sul Ross State University; Museum of the Big Bend, the Mystery Marfa Lights, Anne Riggs Museum; Rooney Park; and Ste. Room w/ kitchen- This room consists of 1 room with 2 dbl beds and adjoining room with a small kitchen. 125.00 Per person based on double occupancy.

Room w/ 2 beds- This room consists of 1 room with 2 beds. Price is 105.00 per person based on double occupancy

Room w/ 3 beds – This room consists of 1-room with 2 beds and attached room with 1 bed. Price is 98.00 per person based on triple occupancy.

Campsites available upon request-

All prices include- Saturday morning breakfast, Saturday afternoon Chili & Hot Dogs, Saturday night BBQ, entry fees into the pool area, linens.

Not included: equipment, meals (except for Saturday meals), cooking utensils for rooms with kitchens, air fills.

Friday

2:00 PM-  Must be at waters edge with equipment for Open Water training dives (you will need to arrive at the park no later than 1:30 to check in)

5:30 PM      be in parking lot for caravan to McDonald Observatory

Saturday

9:00 AM     Breakfast at Cathy’ cabin

10:00 AM     Open Water Students- Meet at waters edge for Open Water training   dives

1:00-3:00     Chili & hot dogs by pool side. (Please bring your own drinks, Hot chocolate will be provided

5:30 PM      BBQ- Meet at Group Facility Hall (located in front of pool area, please bring your own drinks)

7:00 PM      Night Dive- Meet at Water edge for briefing- Josh

THINGS TO KNOW

1. Kitchen Rooms do not have any cooking utensils- you must bring your own.

2. Linen is provided for all beds.

3. No pets allowed in pool area or motel rooms.

4. Wood fires prohibited. Small charcoal fires in the grills OK

5. 2- vehicles permitted per site.

6. All rooms are non-smoking.

7. Arrivals after 4:00 PM must go the Resident Rangers house to pick up their key.

8. Night dives are 4.00 per person

9. Everyone must check at the office upon arrival and sign a liability release. If you are a late arrival, you must check in at the office the next morning. Please do this early enough that you are not late for your dive briefing/class.

11. Recommended to bring wagon or dolly.

12. OW students fee to park $4.00

13. There is 1 restaurant located approx. 3 minute drive from the park

14. Air fills are 10.00 (tanks must be post 1990)
